Low Carb Sleep Benefits

It wasn’t until we had an overnight guest over the Thanksgiving weekend did I realize just how much my nightly sleeping has improved. Let me see if I can explain this delicately.

My husband and I are of the age where we are feeling the effects of health mistakes we made in our youth. Some of the mistakes we made knowingly and others we made because we were misinformed. Either way, we have reached the age where many years of mistakes are making themselves known.

Nightly Bathroom Trips

In my husband, one of the health mistakes manifests itself iGood Night's Restn nightly bathroom trips. At first it was one trip a night, then it graduated to two trips and on some nights there were three trips. His nightly wanderings, no matter how quietly he wandered, woke me up. Unfortunately, his lack of sleep became mine too.

Since switching his diet to one low in carbs, my husband’s nightly bathroom trips have diminished. I didn’t realize how much they diminished until our house guest brought it to mind. You see, our house guest is of the same age and does not eat a low carb diet. Like clockwork, every two hours he left his room and made a trip to the bathroom (stealth was not his strong suit either).

Spreading the Low-Carb WordRestroom

After a few nights of interrupted sleep, I felt compelled to share my low carb philosophy using my husband and myself as real life examples. After all, isn’t it worth giving up a few carbs in order to enjoy a complete night’s rest?

Unfortunately, I won’t know if he changed his eating habits until the next time he comes for an overnight visit. In the meanwhile, my hubby is thrilled with his ability to sleep through the night (and so am I).
